A content delivery network (CDN) is a system of distributed servers that are designed to deliver web content to users, based on their geographic location. CDNs are typically used to improve the performance and availability of web-based content, such as websites, applications, and online services. They work by caching, or storing, a copy of the content at various locations around the world, so that users can access the content from a nearby server, rather than having to retrieve it from a central server. This can reduce latency, or the time it takes for the content to be delivered, and can improve the reliability and availability of the content. CDNs are commonly used by large, global organizations that need to deliver content to users around the world, and are an essential component of modern web infrastructure.
