Lookback – Fifteen Years of using Linux and Open Source

Today, I will publish a post I had written in January of 2017 to mark my Fifteen year anniversary of using Linux and Open Source Software. This post never got published. Maybe because- as the timeline below would indicate- I had actually completed Sixteen years and not fifteen !

The era in which this post was written might also explain to the reader why the names of some distributions and version numbers sound… different.

CDN Setup for this new blog site – January 2022 update

Past Issues with Content Delivery Networks

In the past, I have migrated servers and change the image delivery system (either via CDN or served locally) for this blog multiple times. This has led to series of broken images. In other cases, it was a matter of mis-configuration of Gumlet or BunnyCDN. In January 2022, I was able to resolve this matter when I migrated this blog to its own subdomain.In a matter of time, images for all 300 plus blog posts (that have been published at the time of writing this post) should start displaying correctly.

First impressions: Lenovo Thinkpad AMD Ryzen Laptop

I purchased a new laptop in early January 2022, after much deliberation it turned out to be a Ryzen Powered Lenovo Thinkpad E14. Read my first impressions and review of this Linux on Thinkpad. My Custom Computer Rig- The “Kitchen Sink Edition

In this post, I describe my experiments and attempts to build a custom computer rig for my podcast production and occasional editing. This turned out to be a mini beast with 24 Gigs of DDR4 RAM and 3.2 Terabytes of Storage space. The desktop runs well on Manjaro Linux and I am quite happy with the way things turned out.
