For my 2023 blogging challenge, I planned to publish at least one new blog post daily and update one existing blog post as well. As I publish this post on June 17, 2023, it’s noticeable that I am lagging behind my publishing goals, both in terms of the number of posts and word count.
Below is not an excuse, but rather an explanation.

Instead of new content, I opted for content refresh. Since new content added to existing blog posts does not count towards my blogging goals, it may appear I am way behind with my blogging target.
Updating old posts
Upon starting to update my existing blog posts, I went down a rabbit hole. I quickly realized that many older blog posts had several deficiencies, including:

| 404 errors | lack of a structure |
In other words, the blog posts desperately needed a massive content refresh.
Going Slow on Publishing New Posts
Given the lengthy nature of many posts, I decided to pause publishing new ones and instead focused on behind-the-scenes tasks. Here’s what I’ve accomplished:
- Archiving Old Posts: In June 2023, I had about 370 published blog posts on this blog. As of June 17, fewer than 60 remain. The other 310 posts, primarily technology and web-hosting related, have been archived. This includes nearly 120 posts from myKitaab podcast, which I’ve also chosen to archive. By doing this, I’ve been able to concentrate on the highest-performing blog posts that can provide the most value to my readers.
- Tagging Archived Posts: The archived posts have been given ‘no index’ and ‘no follow’ tags. Although they’re still accessible, they won’t appear in search results moving forward.
- Consolidating and Merging Posts: I experimented with this recently while working on Nexusbytes server benchmarks, and it worked well. I plan to do the same with other VPS providers, including Inception Hosting, HostHatch, Gullo’s Hosting, and Greencloud VPS.
What does this mean for you, my readers?
Firstly, the content will be more relevant, readable, and hopefully relatable. Secondly, I’ve reintroduced images that were previously broken due to content delivery network mis-configurations. Lastly, I intend to follow blogging best practices in future posts, including proper titles, meta tags, headings, a table of contents, well-tagged images. Hope this will enhance your reading experience.

मौजूदा ब्लॉग पोस्टों को अपडेट करना शुरू करते ही, मैं जल्दी ही समझ गया कि पुरानी ब्लॉग पोस्टों में कई कमियाँ हैं | जैसे चित्र लोड नहीं हो रहे हैं, टूटे हुए URL, 404 त्रुटियाँ | दूसरे शब्दों में, ब्लॉग पोस्ट को बड़े पैमाने पर अपडेट की बहुत ज़रूरत थी।
बहुत सारी पोस्टों की लंबाई के कारण, मैंने नए पोस्ट प्रकाशित करने की जगह पर पुरानी ब्लॉग पोस्टोंपीछे ध्यान केंद्रित किया। यहाँ वह है जो मैंने प्राप्त किया है:
